Just checked LMMS site and saw that a new version was released (about 2 months ago).  LMMS is a Linux music app that acts a lot like Fruity Loops.  It used to be terribly unstable, but with the 0.3.0 version I haven’t got it to crash yet.  In the previous version, simply opening one demo file after another would  do the trick, but I’ve cycled through all of them (many are very complex) and not so much as a glitch so far.  Oh, and it has VST support compiled in.  I’ve heard this new version can do slides, I just have no idea how.
